I'd Die For You

I'd Die For You

It was a quiet night. You could see all the stars in the sky. A figure stood in the middle of the meadow. Looking out at the sky, a dreamy smile plastered on her face. Closing her eyes gently she imagined herself reaching out for the stars and grasping them in her palm. The mere thought of being a ble to hold the stars in her hand made her feel delighted. A pair of large warm hands then wrapped itself around her tiny waist. She placed her arms on his but did not open her eyes. She continued to reach out for the stars, collecting more and more making it look like her hand was glowing.

"What are you thinking of?"

"Nothing, I am just collecting as many stars as possible to give it to you when it turns dark"

"Stars?" a soft giggle rippled through the air as he laughed at her imagination.

"Yeah, stars. So it would be able to light up the path for you take and you will not get lost"

She then opened her eyes and turned around to face him. He smiled at her and she felt secure. Slowly, she extended her clasp palm out to him and took his hand. In a swift motion she dropped something in his palms. He opened his clasped palm and found ten tiny twinkling glow in the dark stars sitting there. She slipped her arms around him and held herself close to him. He smiled and held her as well. She then whispered into his ear.

"I want you to keep those stars. They will bring you back to me if you ever get lost"

"Okay,I will keep them. Under one condition"

She pulled away from him and stared right into his eyes.

"What condition?"

"You have to promise me that you will not wander away all alone at night"

"I promise"

She then held up her pinky finger and extended it towards him. He laughed at her childishness but hooked his pinky with hers as well. Smiling happily at him she then darted across the meadow towards a bench and sat down. She motioned for him to join her on the bench. When he was about to reach her, she suddenly dissapeared. Looking around him, in search of the one girl that has captured his heart he turned panicked and screamed out her name.

"Serena! Serena! Where are you? This is not funny!"

He ran around the meadow in search of her. But to his dismay, she was nowhere to be found. Tears slowly trickled down his face as he kneeled down on his knees and began to cry. Suddenly, there was a soft tap on his shoulder. When he turned around, there stood Serena holding a little white rabbit in her arms. She was about to smile at him when she saw the tears on his face. Her expression turned concerned and she crouched down beside him and placed the rabbit in his arms.

"Why are you crying?"

She gently wiped off the tears from his eyes. Before she could say another word he threw his arms around her.

"You shall never do that again!" he hissed into her ears.

"I am sorry, I just saw this cute little rabbit and I went off after it" she apologised while looking down at the floor.

He knew she did not mean it, but he could not bear to see her go missing like that. What if something had happened to her? Danger lurkes at every corner. He closed his eyes to calm himself down. He knew he could not live without her, and what happened earlier had just proved that. She calmly sat beside him with the rabbit in her arms. Clearly sorry for her earlier actions, she did not look at him.

"We should get home" he grabbed her hand and pulled her up.

"But I am tired"

He then crouched down infront of her. She climbed onto his back and he lifted up the rabbit. Walking through the quiet forest, all he could hear was her soft breathing and his footsteps. He took this opportunity to clear his mind before she woke up. Thinking of the happy times they had spent together a smile unknowingly appeared on his face. A soft breeze then blew past them filling the air with the scent of lavendar. Hher favourite type of flower and also the scent of her shampoo.

Upon reaching the car, he opened the passenger door and buckled her in without waking her. He then crossed over to the driver's side and slip in. He sat there for a moment staring at her. He noticed how the pale moonlight made her look like an angel. He reached over to her and pushed a lock of stray hair back into place. Turning back to face the road, he turned on the ignition and drove off towards her house. As he parked across her house, he leaned over and kissed her. She stirred in her sleep and slowly opened her eyes.

"You are home"

"Oh,thanks for driving me home" she flashed him a bright smile and reached to the backseat for the rabbit.

She climbed out of the car and crossed the road. Halfway across the street a car sped right towards her. Without thinking he opened the door and leapt out at her. He managed to push her out of the way but that meant he was right smack in the middle of the way of the car. The driver was drunk and therefore was not fully concious. Not noticing Damien standing right in the middle of the road, he continued to drive. A cry of despair and grief roarred through the neighbourhood as lying in the middle of the road was a body in a pool of blood.

Neighbours came out of their house to see what had happened. All they saw was a girl hunching over a dead corpse with a rabbit beside her.The case, was a hit and run. The driver was arrested the next day as an eye-witness has jotted down the numberplate. As for Serene, she now lives in a daze. Following daily basic routines, she seems more like a living zombie then human.

It's just a short story I wrote in the evening...
